The RaceFactory extra wide channels

The advantages of wide channels are now well known.

The widening of the channel increases the volume of air contained in the tire and allows a lowering of the working pressures.

In the field, this brings significant advantages in terms of traction, grip and reduction of the W needed on rough terrain.

This is why the use of wide channels is spreading more and more, not only in the racing field but also at an amateur level. That's why our SWTB 28.4 has a 28.2mm channel , and the SWBT 31.4 a whopping 31.4mm channel .

However, the use of wide channels requires some precautions. The friction on smooth and compact surfaces such as asphalt and hard surfaces increases the footprint in proportion to the width of the channel and the lowering of the pressure. However, the limited contact area of the studs mitigates this effect.

Lowering the pressure makes it easier for sharp rocks to collapse the shoulder of the tire and reach the bead of the rim, with the possibility of damaging it.

This is one of the reasons why we developed the SWBT 4.2mm extra wide bead technology, well above the average of MTB rims, much more resistant and much less aggressive on the sidewall of the tire in case of pinch flats.

Our configurator allows you to create your own made-to-measure set, even by varying the width of the channel between the front and rear , making the most of the customizations that only made-to-measure wheels allow you to obtain .
